Pam first dreamed of being an international trader when she read a book about that subject when she was eight years old. Efforts by classmates, teachers and others to marginalize Pam because of her race and gender forced her to develop a sense of purpose and commitment to excellence that has been one of the hallmarks of her career. Pam was the first African-American woman in the United States to be elected as State Attorney General when she was elected to that position in Indiana in 1993.
